Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation and job satisfaction on the performance of online motorcycle taxi driver partners with work-life balance as a moderating variable in Gojek driver partners in Medan City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to active students who work as Gojek drivers. Of the 400 questionnaires distributed, 316 respondents met the research criteria and were used as analysis data. The data analysis technique used Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the measurement model, structural model, and research hypothesis. The results of the measurement model test show that all constructs have Cronbach's Alpha, Composite Reliability, and Average Variance Extracted values that meet the reliability and convergent validity criteria. The results of discriminant validity through the Fornell-Larcker Criterion and HTMT Ratio also show that each construct has clear empirical differences. In the structural model, the R-Square value of 0.329 indicates that work motivation, job satisfaction, and work-life balance are able to explain 32.9% of the variation in Gojek driver performance, while the Q-Square value of 0.319 indicates that the model has good predictive ability. The results of the hypothesis testing show that work motivation does not have a significant effect on Gojek driver performance, job satisfaction also does not have a significant effect on Gojek driver performance, while work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on Gojek driver performance. In addition, work-life balance is not proven to moderate the influence of work motivation or job satisfaction on driver performance. The main conclusion of this study is that work-life balance is the most dominant factor in improving the performance of active students who work as Gojek drivers in Medan City. This finding emphasizes the importance of balance between study, work, family, and personal life in supporting the performance of application-based platform workers.
